Facing the Bull Alone
I remember walking into my first boardroom meeting in the early 2000s. Ten men in dark suits sat around a mahogany table, and there I was – the lone woman, a junior salesperson clutching my notes with equal parts excitement and dread. The silence was deafening as I took my seat. I felt I had to prove I belonged before I even spoke. Those early moments in my career were intimidating, but they also lit a fire in me. I wasn’t just representing myself; I felt as if I were representing all the women absent from that room.
